New Year’s Eve partygoers celebrated the birth of a new year on January 1, 2009. Local horn-based rock band Chris Daniels and the Kings also celebrated their 25 year with a concert at the St. Julien Hotel.
“Who would have thunk?” Daniels says of his band reaching the quarter-century mark. “You’re not supposed to make a living playing guitar for 25 years.”
On New Year’s Eve 1983, Daniels was backing up Russell Smith (formerly of the Amazing Rhythm Aces), as well as fronting his own band. Smith was about to take a break, so on New Year’s Eve Daniels, his backing band and horn players from Steve Conn’s band decided to put together a gig. (more…)
