New CD with BMASTER from Holland out Now!

Chris Daniels and BMaster
We’ll Meet Again
The Music That Makes You Happy
By Torch THE MUSIC BUZZ
You want to Funk up your life?
Check out this latest release from Chris Daniels. It is a live recording from a show he did with BMaster at Q-bus in Leiden Holland. It is a party all wrapped up in a CD just waiting for you to open it up and start dancing around! In true Chris Daniels tradition there is an amazing blend of Blues, Funk, Rock and even a bit of Creole Jazz! Raise your hands to the horn section and give it a twist in your jeans to old favorites like, “You Put the Hurt on Me” and “I Like Your Shoes’! You will also find that heartbreak story in “American Tragedy”. Chris Daniels is an amazing storyteller through his music and conversations with the audience.

Rock of ages: Chris Daniels and the Kings reach the quarter-century mark

New Year's Eve partygoers celebrated the birth of a new year on January 1, 2009. Local horn-based rock band Chris Daniels and the Kings also celebrated their 25 year with a concert at the St. Julien Hotel.

"Who would have thunk?" Daniels says of his band reaching the quarter-century mark. "You're not supposed to make a living playing guitar for 25 years."

On New Year's Eve 1983, Daniels was backing up Russell Smith (formerly of the Amazing Rhythm Aces), as well as fronting his own band. Smith was about to take a break, so on New Year's Eve Daniels, his backing band and horn players from Steve Conn's band decided to put together a gig.

"We started talking about wouldn't it be cool to put on a full-on Blood, Sweat and Tears/Tower of Power horn band, because nobody was doing it," Daniels says.

Chris Daniels and the Rhythm and Blues Kings (as the group was originally known) was born and played its first gig in March 1984.

"It was just going to be a one-night party. We were going to do one night at the Blue Note," Daniels says.

A quarter-century later, Chris Daniels and the Kings have released 11 records and toured Europe 16 times. Daniels is now an assistant professor at the University of Colorado's Denver campus teaching music business.

"It was all about just having fun with the music. And boy we did," Daniels says, "and still do. It hasn't changed. The 11th album is out."

The new record, Stealin' the Covers, released in September, features 16 of the band's favorite cover tunes, such as Chuck Berry's "Roll Over Beethoven" and Sonny Landreth's "Congo Square." Landreth appears on the album (he and Daniels became friends when they both lived in Allenspark in the early 1970s), as do Sam Bush, Conn and others.
